Introduction

It's a fast, powerful and easily extensible code editor written in C++ and Python. It was developed by John Skinner. The first publicly available version of Sublime Text (1.0) was released on 18 January 2008. Sublime Text 2.0.2, the current release, was released on 8 July 2013. At the time of writing this, Sublime Text 3 is still in public beta.

Some of its benefits include:

• Project support.
• Theme support.
• Works on Mac, Windows and Linux.
• No need to close and re-open during a gclient sync.
• Supports many of the great editing features found in popular IDE's like Visual Studio and Eclipse.
• It's inexpensive and you can evaluate it (fully functional) for free.However a license must be purchased for continued use. There is no enforced time limit for the evaluation.

Install and Use Package Control

Package Control is a package manager for Sublime Text that allows you to easily install any of the hundreds of awesome plugins made by other developers.

Installation

Follow these steps:

• Go tohttp://wbond.net/sublime_packages/package_control/installation/and copy the long command there.
• Open the Sublime Text console by choosing Show Console(Ctrl+`) in view menu.
• Paste the command you copied into the Sublime Text console.
• Press Enter.
• After Package Control installs, restart Sublime Text.

Usage

Follow these steps:

• Press Ctrl-Shift-P to open the Command Palette.
• Start typing Package Control until you see the appropriate commands.

Some of the possible commands are:

• Install Package
List all available packages, allowing you to narrow down results by typing; clicking on the package will install it
• List Packages
Show all installed packages, even those manually installed
• Remove Package
Uninstall the pacakage
